Oncology Yoga employs the benefits of yoga and applies to all cancer types and stages, serving the growing cancer community to help mitigate side effects, support the immune system and achieve healthcare guidelines for recovery and prevention. It is innately trauma informed.
This workshop will include a brief introduction and interaction, a well supported physical practice, breathwork, relaxation and meditation. Modifications will be offered. We will learn safe ways to practice, while building strength and helping our minds and bodies.
If you join via Zoom, you will need four to six yoga blocks or paper towel rolls, a yoga strap or any non elastic belt, a blanket/throw and a chair (optional).
Shuba is a registered yoga instructor. She lost her sister to ovarian cancer, and her mother to a brain tumor. This experience, and her own transformative yogic journey, inspired her to recently complete her certificate in oncology yoga through yoga4cancer.
Yoga and its teachings can be incredible tools for cancer patients and survivors. Shuba is also trained in chair yoga (through Lakshmi Voelker), yoga nidra (through Divine Sleep), laughter yoga (through Laughter Yoga International), kids’ yoga (through Kidding Around Yoga).
DISCLAIMER: Consulting a physician or trusted counselor prior to participating in an Oncology Yoga program is recommended.
