Ceramics: Wheel Throwing & Hand Building for Beginner/Intermediate (Tues 9 am)

Beginning students will learn basic ceramic techniques. Students initial focus will be on basic wheel-throwing skills such as wedging clay, centering, forming vessels, and glazing. Later in the session students will be introduced to hand-building techniques and can then choose to work on individual wheel-thrown or hand-built projects.

Intermediate students will focus on making more complex forms, glazing techniques and other surface decoration. Class discussions and critiques of completed works will allow students to better explore their individual styles.

Instructor: Hana Reilly

Materials: Students are provided with a 25 lb bag of clay with their tuition. Any additional clay must be purchased at the HCA studio from our teachers. Ask the Ceramics Department head about the pricing structure for bags of clay.
