Family Clowning Workshop

Come get silly with the HCA! Spend April Fools day in style by joining Jihan Haddad for a family friendly one-day Clowning Workshop. This workshop is perfect for the entire family and for all ages. Discover what makes you uniquely funny and let your clown lead the way.
During this workshop, we will be exploring the world of physical play and how expression, interaction, and characterization can all be articulated through a fully-embodied practice. Within the structure of various clowning games and exercises, students will engage with each other, their surroundings, and the range of their own bodies, in order to explore the art of storytelling. With the vocabulary given to us by Michael Chekhov's Psychological Gestures (head, heart, gut centers), students will create a shared language so that brave work can happen in a safe, creative, and fun space.
Children 4 and under are free with parent registration. Once parent registration is complete email tatiana@hopartscenter.org with the name(s) and age(s) of children 4 years old and under attending.
Jihan Haddad is an actor, theatre maker, and educator currently based in Providence, Rhode Island. She has worked professionally at Trinity Repertory Company, The Hanover Theatre, The American Shakespeare Center, Northern Stage, Lyric Stage Company of Boston, and other regional theaters in the country.
