Music: Pop, Rock & Improv 1 (3rd-6th)

This fun and fast paced contemporary music instrument class is all about finding your inner rock start or pop star! Our Fall semester begins with a review of musical theory concepts, and we further our solo performance skills as we learn the basics of improvisation in different genres of popular music through music theory, musical exercises, and musical games!

Students should leave knowing the basics of how folks shred on the guitar, the fiddle, or how some singers seem to be able to riff or scat for days and be equipped with the tools to do this in their own practice and performance. This class is ideal for any private lesson student to level up their lessons!

This class sets the Foundation for higher levels of the class which incorporate more solo and group performance skills, more styles of improvisation (Winter Session) and eventually lead to a showcase of all we have learned and worked on (Spring Session).

While it is not required, we do highly recommend that students have some instrumental, music theory, or singing background and experience to take this class!
