Develop the confidence to paint en plein air (outdoors) and express your artistic vision while connecting with fellow artists.  This transformative two-day plein air painting workshop will teach you how to capture the beauty of the outdoors on canvas. From the beautiful gardens to the unique exhibitions, the HCA offers plenty of inspiration for those looking to learn how to paint quickly and expressively in the moment.

Each morning we'll begin with an instructor demonstration along with essential tips such as setting up your easel, setting up a good composition, dealing with changing light and other helpful strategies for painting successfully outdoors. You'll then pick your spots and get started while the instructor begins individual checks.

After a lunch break, we'll continue painting till about 3 p.m. when everyone gathers to discuss the day's work. At the close of day two, we'll celebrate your hard work together with some wine and snacks.

This retreat is intended for those with painting experience as we'll be delving into advanced techniques like atmospheric perspective, light and shadow, and creating a sense of depth in your paintings.
