All levels of painters are invited to join this weeklong program focusing on plein air (outdoor) painting in oil or acrylic. From the beautiful gardens to the unique exhibitions, the HCA offers plenty of inspiration for those looking to learn how to paint quickly and expressively in the moment. 

We will meet Monday through Friday during the “magic hour”, 5–7:30, as the sun begins to set, providing us with stunning soft light and changing colors. Weather permitting, we'll work outdoors, or inside the gallery, drawing inspiration from the artwork there. Just as the French Impressionist painters met at the Louvre to paint the masters and painted together in the French countryside, our group will gather at HCA to get inspired by the works of New England artists or paint outside the beautiful New England landscape.

This week of art-filled learning will leave you with a deeper comprehension of the plein air technique and a better understanding of your own artistic style.

Please note: Participants of any skill levels are welcome, including beginners, but you will get the most out of the week with some basic painting experience first.
