Little Drummer: The Basics

This section of Little Drummers is the perfect primer for students with little to no musical experience, who have only had classroom music, or are interested in taking on more of a rhythmic challenge or focus to accompany their private studies!

While students will be introduced to all the instrument families, the class will mostly focus on percussion. This session we will also explore basic rhythmic patterns and sounds from around the world! Students will learn to play these on non-pitched and pitched percussion, read basic notation, and learn to take the lead in musical games and adventures that are sure to delight one and all!

This Fall season session of the class prepares students for the Winter session, when we'll bring in instruments from around the world to explore, and further concepts of rhythmic patterns and notation. In the Spring session we will take what we have learned and work towards putting on a percussive showcase that is sure to bring the house down!
