Our teen intensive program focuses specifically on one medium per camp week, giving students the opportunity to build a strong foundation while developing a focused portfolio of artwork. Teens will work closely with professional artists and explore the week's medium in depth. All levels of experience are welcome. Student work will be displayed at the end of the week. 

Week 2: Painting Foundations
Explore painting foundations in this week of studio art. We will will work with watercolors, pastels, acrylics, and more as we learn the foundational techniques unique to each medium. We will also strengthen our work through lessons in color mixing, color theory, layering, and composition. Throughout the week, we will practice observational painting from life and photos. Additionally, we will experiment with expressive abstract painting.

Grades: 6–12
Week 2: July 6–10
Location: 98 Hayden Rowe Street
Program Time: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Drop-off: Between 8:45–9 a.m.
Pick-up: Between 3–3:15 p.m. 
Late Pickups: Incur a fee of $10 for the first 15 minutes and $5 a minute after that.
Materials: All materials will be provided, but each participant should bring: 

• 2 snack(s) (no nuts please) 
• Lunch (no nuts please)
• A reusable water bottle with your child's name on it
• Sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray) and bug spray (optional)
• Wear clothes that are comfortable and washable

• Injury Waiver: You must agree to the HCA injury waiver to register for classes. 
• Photo Release Agreement: You can agree to the HCA's Photo Release Agreement during registration.

Scholarships: The HCA believes the arts are for everyone. Thanks to the generosity of the Dora Kishibay Garabedian Scholarship Fund and individual donations to our scholarship fund, we can assist children, teens, and adults who might not otherwise be able to afford classes.
