Silver Metal Clay Jewelry Workshop: Beginner

Learn how to use textures and molds to design your own unique jewelry using silver metal clay. Precious metal clay is a unique form of silver consisting of microscopic particles of silver mixed with an organic binder and water that allows you to sculpt metal like clay. The clay is molded into the shape of a leaf and then fired, burning off the binder, and sintering together the metal particles resulting in a one of a kind piece of .999 silver jewelry. We will fire the pieces safely using a butane torch.

All participants will be able to make two pairs of earrings or a pair of earrings and a pendant.

Instructor: Joshua Berins started making jewelry after being given a Rock tumbler while a student in High School. He then moved on to Silversmithing and semi-precious stones before falling in love with metal clay jewelry in 2012. He soon bought a kiln to fire his silver metal clay as he got into making larger pieces that were too big to be fired using a torch and to use with different metal clays that could not be fired by torch. Now he also makes his own fused dichroic glass using his kiln which he integrates into his silver metal clay jewelry, and became a certified metal clay teacher.
