In these two intensive pastel painting sessions, the instructor will provide examples, discuss materials, demonstrate, demystify techniques and provide constructive support. Week one, students will learn how to successfully set up and capture a still life. Week two will focus on the nuances of painting a landscape in pastel. Seasoned students can work on subjects provided by the instructor or bring in their own source material.

Instructor: Meredith Fitzgerald
As a working artist, Meredith currently focuses on varying interpretations of landscapes of place, body, and memory. Through oil paint, pastel, installations, and videos, she explores landscapes affected by the passage of time. Meredith has experience with printmaking, knitting, sewing, embroidery, wreath making, calligraphy, origami, woodworking, welding, and robotics. Meredith has an MFA from the Pratt Institute and has been a resident at the Vermont Studio Center. (meredithfitzgerald.com)

Materials: Thanks to a generous donation of pastels, all materials are included in the tuition, including sanded pastel paper. You are welcome to bring your own supplies too!
