Aspiring dancers and passionate movers are invited to join an opportunity to build a strong technical foundation, develop confidence and coordination, and find joy in moving with summer dance besties!
The day begins with a focus on ballet and jazz technique. Additional lessons allow students to explore pantomime from "Sleeping Beauty", historical dance repertory, and improvisation. Use your creative skills to play around with choreography and create a costume design to go along with it. The session will end with an in-studio demonstration for family.
Learning outcomes are designed to support training and artistic development in various styles of dance.
The program is suited for dancers with at least one year of formal training, but total beginners are welcome to join. Please contact jessica@hopartscenter.org with any questions about the program.
The Summer Dance Workshop is a two week course of study for both weeks 6 and 7, but students may opt to participate in only one of the two weeks.
Summer Dance Workshop students are encouraged to enrich their summer dance experience by also enrolling in an afternoon dance session including “Lights, Camera, Dance!” or “Theme Park: Performances.”
