Beginning students will learn basic ceramic techniques. Students initial focus will be on basic wheel-throwing skills such as wedging clay, centering, forming vessels, and glazing. Later in the session students will be introduced to hand-building techniques and can then choose to work on individual wheel-thrown or hand-built projects. Intermediate students will focus on making more complex forms, glazing techniques and other surface decoration. Choose your own individual wheel-thrown or hand-built projects to work on over the weeks.

Materials: Tuition includes a 25 lb bag of clay (any additional clay must be purchased at the HCA studio from our teachers), all firing, access to glazes and underglazes. Tools are available in the studio, however, students can bring their own tools.

Open Studio: Tuition also includes Open Studios, hours to work on their pieces outside of class time. Additional information will be provided during your first class.
